A Look at Morsches Builders Mart History
Morsches Builders Mart is a 4th
generation family owned business,
that originated in 1871 as a sawmill operation that specialized as a producer
of fine hardwoods. Fred & Julius Morsches took over the business in the 1930s.
Paul Morsches Sr. took over the retail side in 1939 and the sawmill
operation was sold off.
In 1952 Paul Morsches Jr. joined the firm as a
partner. The company incorporated
in 1959. Expansion followed with Builders Mart opening in Warsaw in 1962,
Huntington in 1967, Goshen in 1972 & Wabash in 1988.
The company has evolved from a cash and carry
operation in the 1960s & 70s
into a full service and full line lumberyard focusing on meeting the needs of
the
professional builder and serious do-it-yourselfer.
In 1994 Paul Morsches Jr. retired as President but
still resides as
Chairman of The Board. His son Franz was named President and
holds that position today.
